Review of Tank Touring Scooter 250

by Stan Denton
(St. Peters, MO)

Nice looking and cheap - So I got sucked in --

Nothing but problems - No local motorcycle dealerships will work on them. Sometimes it starts and sometimes it don't - A short in the ignition system -- A local scooter repair place cannot find problem -- Has left me stuck more than once -- Cannot wait to get rid of it and get me a good machine.

C'mon Jimster.........!!
by: Anonymous

sorry Jim but the "post delivery" checkout....shoulda been the "pre-delivery" shipping check....we don't fix new merchandise....there are laws against it! Next time you buy a toaster from k-mart....do you need to check out the wiring before making toast?

A Second Thought
by: Jim Zeiser

I don't know if you're still looking here, but sometimes the best thing to do is forget about bike shops altogether. ATV/snowmobile and lawnmower/small engine repair places have a wealth of knowledge on electrical issues. Plus they're cheaper. Many ATVs are coming from China and if a place can fix a John Deere lawn tractor with electrically activated PTOs and fuel injection they should be able to fix your scooter.

Bad Prep
by: Jim Zeiser

This is a case of bad preparation. More than likely it has a loose wire somewhere that should have been found and tightened during the the post delivery inspection. It's not too late. Remove all the plastic, unplug and replug all the connections and check that any bolted or screwed down wires are tight. If that's not it concentrate around the ignition key. Make sure all the wires there are snug on their connectors.

Regrets
by: Artist Bob

Sorry to hear this. My scooter (a near-Tank 150)has been running like a champ. Do you have a Lawn mower repair shop in your area. They are sometimes knowledgeable about the workings of scooters since the mechanics of both are very similar. It might be worth a shot if you haven't already tried it. Look for adds posted by shade-tree mechanics near your home. Sometimes a few phone calls can put you onto the right guy. It sure must be disheartening though. Don't let it get you down. Remember: It is only a problem. It can be solved.
Best of luck from an old Missourian.

Battery Tender Junior in package

A battery tender like the Battery Tender Jr. can make all the difference in whether your scooter will start right up each spring, after being stored for months.

Just about every scooter owner needs to have a battery tender, sometimes called a trickle charger. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you can ride all year long, chances are your scooter will be put on ice, figuratively-speaking, for at least a couple months every winter.

One of the key steps in winterizing a scooter is to protect your battery from draining during its "rest" period. This can – and will – happen if you leave your battery sitting untended in your cold scooter over the winter, even if it's in a garage or shed.

Read our review or go right to Amazon.com to buy this highly recommended Battery Tender Jr NOW...

Attention!

ATTENTION! I have had to delete the Scooter Forum for this site, unfortunately. Despite my best efforts, I could not adequately prevent daily attacks by hackers and spammers. Even though most of their posts did not go public, they still cluttered up my website host's server space, jeopardizing my account. I appreciate everyone's contributions over the past few years and I apologize for having to do this.

Wondering why your scooter question never got posted?

Chances are, there is a good reason. Did you...

If you "checked yes" on any of the points above, then I've deleted your post. Sorry, but I have standards. Feel free to re-submit, following the instructions I have everywhere on the site.

Also... all submissions have to be reviewed by me, and I am currently backlogged. Comments go live without approval, but still take 30 to 60 minutes to show up, so don't repost them, please.
