It seems there are discussion forums out there on just about any topic under the sun, including motor scooters. But some are better than others. And some members are more helpful than others.

We're building quite a community here on our own site, so I thought it might be fun to extend our conversational abilities a bit by starting our own scooter forums right here. So, in August 2009, I installed forum software and off we went. It takes time to build scooter forums out, so if there's not much there the first time you check, please stop by later and check it out again.

And please... join in the discussion yourself, won't you? After all, scooter forums are only as good as the members that participate in them. Chime in with your opinions, your experiences and your questions, OK? We WANT to hear from you!

Do Our Forums Have a Future?

Since I built the forums here, our question and answer area, not to mention the scooter reviews, have really taken off. I get dozens of new submissions there every week. So obviously a LOT of scooter talking is going on right there.

Still, some of you have expressed a desire to have a more informal venue for scooter talk. So I think the forums still fill a need, though it may not be a huge need. And there are many other scooter forums available on the Web, which some of my regular readers are active participants at.

But for the foreseeable future, I intend to keep my forums going... we'll see where they go.

A Little Scooter Forums Tour

Here are some of the areas you'll find on the Scooter Forums:

• Introduce yourself. Here is where you can say hi and introduce yourself for the first time. Just a friendly meet and greet.
• Kudos or complaints about the forum. I WANT your honest feedback. Tell me what you like or what you don't like about these forums and I'll take it as constructive criticism!
• Forum wish list. Is there something you'd like to see here, in the way of categories or functionality? Past suggestions have spawned our pictures/videos area and the "Let's Talk About Riding" topic. The suggestion box is OPEN.
• General scooter talk. Here's where you can just chat with other scooter owners about... riding, buying, arranging local meetups, or anything else at all that doesn't fit into the existing topics on the forums.
• Connect with others who drive the same scooter brand. People tend to be passionate about their scooter brands and models. Meet up and discuss with like-minded scooterists.
• Connect with others who live near you. Or, maybe you'd like to get together with people who live near you? Arrange a group ride? Or even just brainstorm about area repair shops and such?
• Talk about scooter maintenance, repairs & modifications. As I stated above, we DO have areas here on the main site where you can get your scooter questions answered or even share modifications you've made to your scooter. But if you're more comfortable in the forum format, then this is the place.
• Show off your scoot in pictures or video. Want to brag on your cute... or cool-looking... scooter? Share your pictures and videos here.

If you enjoy talking about scooters with like-minded people, then our scooter forums is a great place to start. I hope you enjoy your visit!
