I want to know if I can take my 125SC Baja Scooter on Arizona highways? Is it legal to do so?

It has a top speed of about 60 MPH.

Thanks. :)

It is technically not legal to ride a scooter on the highway in Arizona, unless it's at least 250cc or has a capability of at least 75mph.

What Do You Think?

Lew... The laws governing scooters in your state aren't particularly clear, so you might want to contact your local DMV to discuss this issue.

Also, I don't know what the speed limits are in your state. For instance, where I used to live (NJ), the speed limits were never more than 55MPH, so theoretically, if my scooter would go 55, I'd be OK, legal-wise. But out here in Idaho where I live now, the interstates carry speed limits of around 70MPH. So I definitely wouldn't be able to keep up.

But beyond that, I think you have to look at your comfort at high speeds with larger vehicles all around you. 125s aren't that big a bike, when you consider semis could be passing you left & right. So, I think regardless of the laws, you may need to think about safety overall.

Just my two cents... Kathi

Battery Tender Junior in package

A battery tender like the Battery Tender Jr. can make all the difference in whether your scooter will start right up each spring, after being stored for months.

Just about every scooter owner needs to have a battery tender, sometimes called a trickle charger. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you can ride all year long, chances are your scooter will be put on ice, figuratively-speaking, for at least a couple months every winter.

One of the key steps in winterizing a scooter is to protect your battery from draining during its "rest" period. This can – and will – happen if you leave your battery sitting untended in your cold scooter over the winter, even if it's in a garage or shed.
