Can you help with my Jaling scooter problem?

by Barry
(Florida)

I own a 50 cc Jaling scooter. I have no fire at the plug. I have 3 volts going to the CDI unit and 2.5 volts going to the coil... any advice? How many volts should go to the CDI unit? Thanks... Barry

I posed the question over at Scootdawg. Here is the answer:

"Over 2.1 volts to the CDI from the pickup coil is good. You should have around 120 volts on the primary side of the ignition coil. The voltage on the coil primary which is the output of the CDI would be a pulse which triggers the coil to fire. There is no DC voltage there so the AC function of the meter should be used."

I know power for the CDI and coil comes directly off the stator. As always I'm recommending www.scootdawg.com forum the 50cc and up section. There are many people there who could tell you in an instant how much power you should have.
