Why won't my 49cc 2008 Huawin Sporty 50cc scooter start?

by Spencer
(San Antonio, TX)

I recently bought a 2009 Huawin Sporty 50cc scooter. It started fine at the dealership in Austin, however, once I got it back to San Antonio (where I live), it would not start. I returned it to the dealer who replaced the fuel pump and then used starting fluid to start it.

Once started, he added gas to the tank, and it ran like a top. I loaded it up in the back of the truck and took it home (San Antonio). Once home, it would not start again! Any suggestions?

I really don't want to keep going back to Austin if I can help it. The scooter is still under warranty.

NOT STARTING NEW
by: JIMs

I'VE HAD 2 49CC SCOOTERS. THEY'RE JUST KNOWN FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY GET SUCH GREAT MILES PER GALLON (60-100)AND HAS SUCH A SMALL PORT IN JETS ALLOWING A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF GAS THRU,IF YOU DONT RUN THEM ATLEAST EVERY 2-3 DAYS THEY WILL MOST LIKELY PLUG OR GUM UP THE JETS. GAS NOW-ADAY HAS SO MUCH DEBRIS IN IT, IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH TO GET IN THE SMALL JET AND PLUG. ENZYME GAS TREATMENT WORKED FOR ME AND NEVER LET YOUR TANK GO BELOW 1/4 TANK.

I'm not sure, but maybe do u have a choke? that could be it. like, if it isn't open maybe theirs not enough fuel for it? maybe it floods it? And as allways good luck and scoot safe!

fuelline bleedback
by: Anonymous

I have 2 49cc Chinese scoots. one starts anytime I want, almost instantly. The other, requires cranking and cranking (if it hasn't been run for a few days) but it will always eventually start. I am convinced that the fuel leaks back into the fuel tank and requires cranking to refill the line. This may be your problem.

Huawin scooter???
by: Richie

I have the same problem with my Huawin 50cc scooter! I have to put fuel in the carb manually, once I do that I let it warm up! and I have to give it some throttle or else it will die! But once it warms up it seems to run just fine! I know it's getting fuel so there are no leaks or clogs! I am thinking about getting a different carb for it and see if that makes a difference! I love the scooter and I will figure it out! I will post again when I figure out this small issue!

Battery Tender Junior in package

A battery tender like the Battery Tender Jr. can make all the difference in whether your scooter will start right up each spring, after being stored for months.

Just about every scooter owner needs to have a battery tender, sometimes called a trickle charger. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you can ride all year long, chances are your scooter will be put on ice, figuratively-speaking, for at least a couple months every winter.

One of the key steps in winterizing a scooter is to protect your battery from draining during its "rest" period. This can – and will – happen if you leave your battery sitting untended in your cold scooter over the winter, even if it's in a garage or shed.

Read our review or go right to Amazon.com to buy this highly recommended Battery Tender Jr NOW...
