Who makes the best piston upgrade kit from a 50 to 80cc for my Jonway scooter?

by Al
(E. Lansing, MI.)

I wish to convert my 50cc scooter to an 80cc piston with a good upgrade kit. Who makes the best 80cc kit for my 50cc Jonway scooter?

I need to cruise at 40 mph and have the potential to reach a top speed of 50 mph. Please help, any suggestions?

Thank you,
Al

80cc upgrade kit for 50cc jonway NEW

I was losing compression, so I installed a quality carb from Tiawan. Still losing compression, engine would stall out. I installed new quality rings, still lost compression. Further investigation revealed a burned disfigured exhaust valve. I installed a quality metal valve. The one with the upgrade kit was made from cheap metal. Solved my problem. The carb I installed was a better carb, it has an adjustment screw. Original carb did not. I increased the mixture by a quarter of a turn, scooter runs great now. It goes 50mph, and my recent mileage results were 123 miles on a gallon of 93 octane. So with the 80cc upgrade, new carb, and better exhaust valve and I cannot forget my boot tube from boost induction systems. Scooter run fantastic, I cannot believe it. Very satisfied. My friend who is a scooter did all the work for me for $40, it took him about four hours. Of course the carb cost $30, and it is a better carb. The new piston rings cost $14. I cannot believe how fast it goes and the great mileage I am getting. This is a great true story. I like my Jonway, with disc brakes on front and rear wheels, it stops on a dime. Now I got it tweaked for my satisfaction.

Is the aprillia based on a GY6 50cc platform, and can an 80cc big bore kit be installed on it, like the China scooters? thank you.

Battery Tender Junior in package

A battery tender like the Battery Tender Jr. can make all the difference in whether your scooter will start right up each spring, after being stored for months.

Just about every scooter owner needs to have a battery tender, sometimes called a trickle charger. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you can ride all year long, chances are your scooter will be put on ice, figuratively-speaking, for at least a couple months every winter.

One of the key steps in winterizing a scooter is to protect your battery from draining during its "rest" period. This can – and will – happen if you leave your battery sitting untended in your cold scooter over the winter, even if it's in a garage or shed.
