What could be causing my scooter battery to overcharge and overheat?

When I ride my Zhen King Kong 150cc scooter for more than a half an hour, the battery overheats. When I turn the bike off, there is a hissing noise for about 20 minutes. Then the battery will die.
I have had to replace my battery 3 times. Any idea what is causing the battery to overheat? Something is overcharging the battery but what is it?
P.S. I am riding in 75 degree weather, not overly hot days.
