Found speedometer install problem
by: Anonymous

For those of you who contemplate replacing your speedometer cable, I went through a nightmarish scenario trying to figure out why the new cable would not fit, and want to pass on my experience.

The problem was that on the section where the cable fits into the plastic housing at the front wheel, there was a piece of broken cable in there, therefore not allowing the new cable to fit into the metal receptacle.

Although it was a bit of a bear to disassemble the front end of the scooter, I did learn how to do it. Be sure to unplug the lights harness from under the front end, otherwise (like it happened to me), you will dent and crease the radiator by trying to move the front end around to access where the cable hooks into the speedometer.

To reach and unscrew the cable hookup on the speedometer, you will also have to remove the plastic housing around the headlight, but to do that, you must first completely unscrew and remove the mirrors. Otherwise, it was a happy ending...

Problem with replacement
by: Anonymous

I just received my 2nd (first was wrong one) speedometer cable for the 2006 People 250. This one doesn't fit either. I don't know why Kymco can't get it right. Might have been sent the cable for the 250S?

At any rate, thanks for the reply. I must say that disassembling the scooter front to get to the speedo cable was a real bear. I hope I can put it all back together again. LOL...

Thanks

I have a People 250 with a broken speedometer cable. I just received a new cable. Does anyone have a schematic on how to install a new one?

Thanks

Battery Tender Junior in package

A battery tender like the Battery Tender Jr. can make all the difference in whether your scooter will start right up each spring, after being stored for months.

Just about every scooter owner needs to have a battery tender, sometimes called a trickle charger. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you can ride all year long, chances are your scooter will be put on ice, figuratively-speaking, for at least a couple months every winter.

One of the key steps in winterizing a scooter is to protect your battery from draining during its "rest" period. This can – and will – happen if you leave your battery sitting untended in your cold scooter over the winter, even if it's in a garage or shed.

Read our review or go right to Amazon.com to buy this highly recommended Battery Tender Jr NOW...
