Will I be OK just changing the oil and air filter in a new 150cc Jonway scooter?

I just bought a new 150cc Jonway scooter... the dealer told me all I have to do is change the oil after 300 miles, but I'm worried about the gear oil.
The manual I have does not have a good picture, so I'm not sure how to do it. But I think I should be OK. Please let me know what stuff needs to be done so I can keep this bike nice... I'm at 209 miles.
