Why won't fuel go into my carburetor on my 50cc Chinese scooter?

by Carl
(Springtown, TX)

I have a 50 CC Shenke Hornet scooter. I replaced the petcock, but fuel is not going into the carburetor. If I suck on the vacuum line, it will flow.

I don't know what else to do. Can anyone give me some direction?

Carb NEW
by: Bob

It could be the needle valve on the carburetor. I have an 2004 Baja SC 150, And I've had to take the carburetor apart 3 times in one month to unstick the needle valve. cheap gas and having the scooter sit to long between uses, has been the cause of this problem for me. The carburetor is the same style as the old 70s model Kawasaki. You can remove the carb and take the bottom of the carb apart pull the needle valve out and clean, reasemble and you should be golden. Good luck.

pet cock problems

Remove vacuum line from intake. Check outlet on intake. We have have a couple of scooters that the intake was plugged with rubber during manufacturing. Start scooter and feel outlet on intake. If it has suction, you should be good. Check hose to make sure it is not kinked or pinched but the frame when you put the seat on. Have seen this several times.

Check the line
by: Jim Zeiser

Make sure your vacuum line coming from the carburetor isn't kinked somewhere. Or else get a new length of hose, hook it into the intake manifold and see what happens. These petcocks aren't that hard. If it flows when you suck on it that should happen when the engine sucks on it.

Battery Tender Junior in package

A battery tender like the Battery Tender Jr. can make all the difference in whether your scooter will start right up each spring, after being stored for months.

Just about every scooter owner needs to have a battery tender, sometimes called a trickle charger. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you can ride all year long, chances are your scooter will be put on ice, figuratively-speaking, for at least a couple months every winter.

One of the key steps in winterizing a scooter is to protect your battery from draining during its "rest" period. This can – and will – happen if you leave your battery sitting untended in your cold scooter over the winter, even if it's in a garage or shed.

Read our review or go right to Amazon.com to buy this highly recommended Battery Tender Jr NOW...
