Why does my scooter die out as soon as I hit the throttle?

by Anonymous
(Somewhere)

My scooter is a 2006 Vento 150cc, says bmk on it also. When I start my scooter, it fires right up, no problem, then when I turn the throttle the scooter bogs right out and dies.

One thing is that I can hold my hand over the air intake side of the carburetor and I can get the scooter to idle up like it should. I took the carburetor off and cleaned it... that's about all.

Any other suggestions?

grounding problems NEW
by: Anonymous

I had mine to to sputter n pop on take off. One night while getting lights fixed to go to Wal-Mart I noting a arc off wire on frame and seen that it and ground wire had been pinched together. After repairs where achieved I started her up to check for arcs and got on to leave and to my surprise I gunned throttle and to sputter n popping on take off was gone. I'd had light issues since I had scooter and later the sputter n popping on take off started. The ground issue cause the spark plug to miss fire . Who should have guessed and the numerous times I've cleaned and changed jet on carb.. hope this can be of some use.

lean NEW
by: Anonymous

Your machine is running way too lean. Could be an air intake leak AFTER the carburator. Or, could be fouled main jets in the carb. With the unit idling, spray some carb cleaner around the carb mounts and the manifold gasket. When the engine suddenly bogs down, you have found the leaking spot.

Battery Tender Junior in package

A battery tender like the Battery Tender Jr. can make all the difference in whether your scooter will start right up each spring, after being stored for months.

Just about every scooter owner needs to have a battery tender, sometimes called a trickle charger. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you can ride all year long, chances are your scooter will be put on ice, figuratively-speaking, for at least a couple months every winter.

One of the key steps in winterizing a scooter is to protect your battery from draining during its "rest" period. This can – and will – happen if you leave your battery sitting untended in your cold scooter over the winter, even if it's in a garage or shed.

Read our review or go right to Amazon.com to buy this highly recommended Battery Tender Jr NOW...
