What is the noise in the rear end of my Diamo Retro 150?

by Raymond Kinsey
(Asheville NC)

My Diamo Retro started making a noise coming from inside the belt cover. The clutch checked out fine but the noise turned into a grind coming from around the rear axle and it has started to bind up feeling like the wheel is scrubbing even when stopped.

Hitting a bump frees it up. This bike had 23 miles when I bought it and now has 360 miles. Since I bought it used, there was no warranty with it.

Could this be a lack of gear oil or possibly a wheel bearing? The bike sat for 2 years and I have had to replace the carb. I don't have a manual for it and need to know the location of the gear oil-fill and type of oil.

rear of my 2009 retro 150 NEW
by: Anonymous

I just bought one new. I don,t know how to ride but there are two bokts on the 150 on the rear suspension that also hold the motor and muffler in place. They are not heavy enough to hold uo to the power that machine has if you ride it like I do and have it loaded up. That makes noise because they are loose and at certain rpms it also has a wobble. I drilled mine and put heavier bolts with nuts.

Bolt

Most GY6 engines have two 10mm bolts on the rear of the engine. One at the bottom to drain the gear oil, one on the side to fill it. All the others there are 8mm heads. Take out the 10mm bolt and fill it until it pours back out. Use 85W-90 oil.

Battery Tender Junior in package

A battery tender like the Battery Tender Jr. can make all the difference in whether your scooter will start right up each spring, after being stored for months.

Just about every scooter owner needs to have a battery tender, sometimes called a trickle charger. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you can ride all year long, chances are your scooter will be put on ice, figuratively-speaking, for at least a couple months every winter.

One of the key steps in winterizing a scooter is to protect your battery from draining during its "rest" period. This can – and will – happen if you leave your battery sitting untended in your cold scooter over the winter, even if it's in a garage or shed.

Read our review or go right to Amazon.com to buy this highly recommended Battery Tender Jr NOW...
