How to turn a parked scooter around

by Artist Bob

It can be vexing to try to turn your parked scooter around while you are either sitting on it or walking it out of a parking space. To avoid all the jockeying around, here is a trick I learned from a more experienced rider:

1. Put the center stand down.

2. Stand beside your scooter. Left hand on the handle bar; compress the brake lever.

3. Now tilt the scooter toward you so that it is resting on just one foot of the center stand.(The foot nearest you.) This gives you a pivot point for the scooter to turn upon.

4. You can then just simply walk around this pivot point until the scooter is facing the direction you want it to go.

5. Then lower the scooter back onto both feet of the center stand. Voila!

This little maneuver really helps when you have ridden forward into a diagonal parking space on the street or at the mall. It saves you from backing out into traffic. Take care.

Genius!

Great tip... thanks for sharing it. I can't wait to try it next time I'm in a tight spot. It does get tedious, backing it out while straddling. :)

Thanks again,
Kathi

Battery Tender Junior in package

A battery tender like the Battery Tender Jr. can make all the difference in whether your scooter will start right up each spring, after being stored for months.

Just about every scooter owner needs to have a battery tender, sometimes called a trickle charger. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you can ride all year long, chances are your scooter will be put on ice, figuratively-speaking, for at least a couple months every winter.

One of the key steps in winterizing a scooter is to protect your battery from draining during its "rest" period. This can – and will – happen if you leave your battery sitting untended in your cold scooter over the winter, even if it's in a garage or shed.
