How do you check the automatic choke on a 03 Derbi GP1?

Have to crank it forever when it's cold. Once it's warm it starts fine. It doesn't seem to be flooded and there is no high idle when it does start.
I don't think the choke is working. Is there a fuse for this? What else could it be?
