CPI ARAGON Sline Scooter Review

CPI Aragon

CPI Aragon

So this is CPI Motor Co's new 50cc scoot. Bought it for about $1500 out in Hawaii at Pacific Mopeds and it has been a dream so far. It looks really cool with LED front turn signals and the two tone paint.

Power wise, this thing will fly anywhere around here. I did have a Chinese 4-stroke moped before this and the power difference is crazy. I have 1000 miles and so far it's been great.

Pacific Moped digress NEW
by: Kaicanoe

From day one this moped did not start nor run right. Try as I might to get Pacific Moped to address the problem and he told me it was the ethanol in the gas. Wanted $75 to drain the tank & refill with new gas. How absurd.
Mileage was horrible. Did find out why as the gas was leaking out. Checked it my self as Pacific went out of business & found that the enricher valve was defective.
Replaced that, adjusted the carb, reset the idle, & now it runs like it should, getting over 45mph. From Pacific, it would do only 33, & that was down hill too. I can get 50 down hill now.
I would like to give it 5 stars but it is so difficult to find parts and information on it in the US. UK seems to have fallen in love with it. I'd like to know what kind of Mikuni carb it has without taking it apart, for instance.

Good while it lasted NEW

First off, I am a loyal CPI scoooter rider. I had CPI Mako 50 and a CPI Hussar. Neither gave me any trouble, so I purchased the CPI Aragon thinking this is the kind of performance I could expect.

It was great... for the first three months. After that, carburetor trouble. Eventually, I had to replace the entire carburetor.

The ignition — I am left handed so I hold the left brake handle when I turn the ignition. This stopped working after awhile. I figured out that I had to start holding the right brake handle only after I took the scooter in for service and they determined nothing was wrong. When that no longer worked, I went back to the left handle. At least this is something I expected... just not after less than a year.

The left turn signal spring stopped attaching about five months in. I would have to hold the signal button down — while I turned — if I wanted to signal. Oddly, this problem fixed itself after a week.

After six months, my scooter no longer starts up properly. No matter how much I warm up the engine and rev it, it will cut out. You can temporarily address this by adjusting the idle. But then your bike will feel like its creeping forward at intersections not to mention loudly over-taxing the engine. Simply put, you shouldn’t have to max out the idle just to get the scooter to start.

Thankfully, all of this was covered under my warranty. However that warranty ends at 4,000 miles or one year, depending on which comes first. Suffice to say, if this is your primary transportation, you are going to hit 4,000 in less then a year. Say it’s 9 1/2 miles to work, 9 1/2 miles back. 19 miles X 7 months = 3,990 miles.

Don’t get me wrong, this scooter is fast, agile, and brakes on a dime. But from a reliability standpoint, if this is any indication, CPI just doesn’t make ’em like they used to.

So, do you still have it? What is the mileage now and how's it running. Was Pacific Mopeds helpful. Reason being, I plan on getting the same one. Thanks

Battery Tender Junior in package

A battery tender like the Battery Tender Jr. can make all the difference in whether your scooter will start right up each spring, after being stored for months.

Just about every scooter owner needs to have a battery tender, sometimes called a trickle charger. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you can ride all year long, chances are your scooter will be put on ice, figuratively-speaking, for at least a couple months every winter.

One of the key steps in winterizing a scooter is to protect your battery from draining during its "rest" period. This can – and will – happen if you leave your battery sitting untended in your cold scooter over the winter, even if it's in a garage or shed.

Read our review or go right to Amazon.com to buy this highly recommended Battery Tender Jr NOW...
