Can you tell me if the SUNL is a reputable brand having good service?

I am thinking about purchasing one of the SUNL brand 50 cc scooters on eBay. I am also looking at the Wildfire 50 cc moped scooter.

In your opinion which is the better cheap 50 cc scooter, the SUNL 50 cc or the Wildfire 50 cc moped scooter? Thanks: Gary In King, NC.

yes and no

obviously sunl isn't the most expensive brand out there, but they do make a fairly good product. They need to be broken in right, which means oil changes all of the time at least for the start. Luckily this takes only 15 minutes to do and it very affordable. Other than that treat it well and you will be fine. Also cold weather makes them super hard to start.

SunL no longer in business
by: MacScooter

My first scooter was a SunL 150 Cruiser that died at 750 miles..no matter what the dealer could do. Luckily for me, Brad (Brad's Scooters St. Charles MO) is someone who actually stands behind his bikes - and made me an even swap for a Cozumel 150 that I now have over 4000 miles on.

The Cozumel is identical to the Tank Tourer/Lance Duke/Roketa Bali in both the 150cc air-cooled and 250cc water-cooled models. But the 250cc have a bad reputation... unless the mechanic can put the larger 300cc head on it... then it runs great!

Wildfire does not have a good reputation. But since most all use the GY6 type engines, many of the essential parts will interchange. But no matter what you get - make sure you find a reputable shop and an experienced mechanic.

Also, I found the front wheel wobbled - this was due to a center rib that sticks out. I had it switched with the rear tire and that fixed the issue!

As for getting wet - the Cruiser hated water. But the Cozumel has weathered sudden torrential downpours without a whimper - and I was still going 65 mph on the highway! It just hates cold weather!

Neither

If you're thinking about buying a 50cc scooter online go to www.greenearthscooters.com They sell Bashan scooters, a quality scooter imported by Peace Industries.

Both SunL and Wildfire have a reputation for sourcing questionable components that will let you down. Peace sources good components that will hold up in the long run.

Battery Tender Junior in package

A battery tender like the Battery Tender Jr. can make all the difference in whether your scooter will start right up each spring, after being stored for months.

Just about every scooter owner needs to have a battery tender, sometimes called a trickle charger. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you can ride all year long, chances are your scooter will be put on ice, figuratively-speaking, for at least a couple months every winter.

One of the key steps in winterizing a scooter is to protect your battery from draining during its "rest" period. This can – and will – happen if you leave your battery sitting untended in your cold scooter over the winter, even if it's in a garage or shed.

Read our review or go right to Amazon.com to buy this highly recommended Battery Tender Jr NOW...
