Anyone Know a Repair Shop That Can Handle a Gear Oil Change?

by Joe
(USA)

I have a Rocketa, 50cc gas scooter(MC07-50T). The regular oil and gear oil needs replacement from time to time. It is easy to change the regular oil... but the gear oil is another thing.

I brought it to a scooter repair shop and they didn't want to get involved in the gear changing task? They told me to ride it as it is. But I am picking up a funny noise in the gear box area when I ride it now. It has 7,000 miles on it.

Do you know a repair shop that handles such a task? I would appreciate a reply with contact info... Thanking you in advance, Joe

GEAR OIL REPLACEMENT
by: Anonymous

JUST BUY A SMALL PUMP AT THE AUTO PARTS STORE
ATTACH IT TO THE GEAR OIL BOTTLE TAKE THE BOLT OUT FROM THE BOTTOM AND THE SIDE BOLT THEN CONNECT THE HOSE TO THE BOTTOM AND START TO PUMP THE OIL FROM THE BOTTOM UP. THIS WILL REMOVE ANY AIR . CLOSE OFF SIDE THEN TAKE HOSE OUT AND QUICKLY REPLACE BOLT

there should be a drain plug on the bottom of the motor, remove it and drain oil, if it has a manual clutch use mt-1 certified gear lube, if it has a cvt check your drive belt

Changing Gear oil
by: Happy Old Scoot

Joe --

Piece of Cake -- You don't have to pay a repair shop bucks to do it. Google "how to change scooter gear oil" (I just did it) and you will find videos showing how it's done. For gear oil, simply replace the same amount that came out (many of the sites fail to address this issue. The others who made comments were right about "repair shops" that refuse to change your gear oil. The only reason beyond incompetence that I can think of is that they simply don't want to work on your scoot. Shop around. Bad news about noises in the gear box. Hope it hasn't self-destructed from failure to change gear oil.

Good luck.

Gear Oil Change
by: 2 Wheel Toystore LLC

If a scooter repair shop is not able to change your gear oil it is not a repair shop, search in yellowbook or the Internet for a quality repair shop.

Battery Tender Junior in package

A battery tender like the Battery Tender Jr. can make all the difference in whether your scooter will start right up each spring, after being stored for months.

Just about every scooter owner needs to have a battery tender, sometimes called a trickle charger. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you can ride all year long, chances are your scooter will be put on ice, figuratively-speaking, for at least a couple months every winter.

One of the key steps in winterizing a scooter is to protect your battery from draining during its "rest" period. This can – and will – happen if you leave your battery sitting untended in your cold scooter over the winter, even if it's in a garage or shed.

Read our review or go right to Amazon.com to buy this highly recommended Battery Tender Jr NOW...
