I purchased the SYM HD200 scooter new. It ran fine for about 3,000 miles and then the main fuse would blow when I turned left. The dealer mechanic finally (after about 3 months and many fuses and letters to Carter Brothers) found a short in the wiring harness to the high/low beam switch.
I had the drive belt changed at the recommended mileage. 800 miles later the clutch blew on me. I was not a hot dogger on the HD200. When I wanted parts, it was a long wait. After the clutch blew, I traded the HD200 for a 2007 Honda Helix that was on the SYM dealer's floor.
The parts availability and reliability are such that I would not recommend SYM at all.

Just about every scooter owner needs to have a battery tender, sometimes called a trickle charger. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you can ride all year long, chances are your scooter will be put on ice, figuratively-speaking, for at least a couple months every winter.

Yes, I have been noticeably absent from the site the past few months. I recently lost my mother to a long battle with COPD and was subsequently plagued with a bunch of minor health problems. But I'm better now & back full swing.
I had to delete over a hundred questions that had been submitted, some because they were too old for answers to still be valuable and many because they were written in text speak, which I don't accept on the site.
